the resurfacing of the northern section of County Road 507 started in June and continues through August, disrupting traffic, subjecting cars to dust and flying pebbles, and creating safety risks for motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians; and Whereas there are almost 600 dwellings from Baldwin Bay Road north who have to travel on this resurfaced section of the 507; and Whereas the volume of complaints from residents has been significant; and Whereas the traffic volume data resulting from the 2020 study is problematic, since that was collected during COVID and in that year, Ontarians were strongly encouraged not to travel, especially to secondary residences, and over 80% of the dwellings in Cavendish are seasonal; and Whereas it is sound fiscal management to balance costs with benefits, and a savings of $3 million over 75 years between a hot mix asphalt surface and a double surface treatment is material, the annual difference is only $40,000.00; Therefore That Trent Lakes Council respectfully requests the County to update its Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) with post-COVID data, review the financial projections on an annual as well as lifetime basis and to give consideration to applying hot mix asphalt to all sections of County Road 507 in the future.
